By Your Side, Ruth Jones in conversation with Cathy Rentzenbrink

Ruth Jones MBE is probably best known for her role as Nessa in the BBC’s Gavin and Stacey, which she co-wrote with James Corden. But she is also a successful novelist whose award-winning debut, Never Greener, was a Sunday Times bestseller for 15 weeks – with three weeks at number one.  Her second, Us Three, and her third, Love Untold, also made the Sunday Times list and, to date, her novels have sold over one million copies.

So it is with great pleasure that we welcome Ruth to this year’s LitFest to talk to Cathy Rentzenbrink about her latest book, By Your Side. It tells the story of Linda Standish, who has spent 33 years in the Unclaimed Heirs Unit, investigating the lives of those who’ve died alone and tracking down any living relatives. Her last case before retiring takes her to a remote Scottish island, where she finds joy in the most unlikely connections. And, in the process, unexpectedly makes new friends and discovers things she never knew about herself.
