Poetry Please!

Sue Johns and Sara Levy present words and visuals from their Writing Poetry MA portfolios, which address the history of mental health treatment for women in this country. These include a heroic crown of sonnets in memory of Vivienne Eliot (first wife of TS Eliot) and poems from research conducted in the archives of a 19th century asylum. A former punk poet, Sue is a veteran of the performance poetry circuit, including the Edinburgh Festival; Sara combines life as a drama teacher with her role as copy editor for The Alchemy Spoon, the magazine for poetry without prejudice. Both poets will be available afterwards for an informal chat and questions.
