Event Description

“Jackson’s Claret”

Jackson’s Claret, new champions of Cornish traditional music, perform Cornish tunes and songs from the 1700s up until the present day. The combination of Melodeon (John Gallagher), Bouzouki & vocals (Pete London), Bodhran (Kate Evans) and fiddle (Andy Law), breathes new life into arrangements of well-known and more obscure Cornish songs, tunes and dances.

“Dalla Duo”

Dalla Duo celebrates the very best of Cornish traditional music in all its varied glory, from wild and mesmerising nos lowen dance tunes to beautifully haunting slower pieces. This includes instrumentals on bouzouki and clarinet, as well as songs in Cornish and English.

Neil Davey and Hilary Coleman are both very well known to anyone familiar with Cornish traditional music, having each played an integral part in its revival over the last few decades. Together, they are probably best known for being the two original founding members of the internationally acclaimed Cornish traditional music band Dalla. They were also co-founders of the whole remarkable phenomenon that is the nos lowen approach to Cornish social dancing, and continue to perform regularly on this ever-growing scene either as Dalla Duo, as part of the mighty nos lowen dance band Skillywidden, or in various other line-ups.

‘Inventive and enchanting, their music celebrates Cornish culture in an upbeat and infectious voice’
