Event Description

THE LITFEST’S GUIDE TO NOVEL WRITING – PART 5 WORKSHOP

Award-winning author Louise Doughty has ten novels to her name, including Platform Seven, Appletree Yard and, most recently, A Bird in Winter. For this workshop, she is drawing on some of things she learnt and shared in her non-fiction, how-to-write book: A Novel in a Year. The workshop is a brisk canter through the basics of plotting and narrative structure, the usefulness of screenwriting models for novelists – and a frank and open chat about how to fix the structural problems of a book when they go wrong. Bring pen and paper and be prepared to plot your novel on the spot.

This event is held at Morrab Library.
