Polly Paulusma
(you say it pauls-mer)
Since her debut ‘Scissors In My Pocket’ in 2004, Polly Paulusma has released five studio albums and five sibling and alterno-albums with Bjork’s label One Little Independent, all straddling the acoustic, singer-songwriter, jazz-inflected indie-folk and trad folk genres. She has supported Bob Dylan, Jamie Cullum, Coldplay, Marianne Faithfull, The Divine Comedy and a host of other notable artists in her 21-year career, she’s toured the USA and Europe as well as the UK, and played Glastonbury, T in the Park and V Festival among many others.
Her sixth studio album ‘Wildfires’ will be released this coming autumn. ‘Wildfires’ is an extended immersive performance piece of spoken-word and song produced by legendary producer Ethan Johns (Ray Lamontagne, Laura Marling, Ryan Adams) and features the talents of Johns on drums, jazz pianist Neil Cowley (Neil Cowley Trio), and double bass pioneer Jon Thorne (Lamb, Yorkston Thorne Khan) alongside Paulusma’s swooping vocals and idiosyncratically robust guitaring. Over two hours in two parts, and recorded mostly live, its material analyses the different ways we love, from childhood friendships, heated crushes, more meaningful long-term slow-burn relationships and even love from beyond the grave.
