Event Description

Rebirding Britain: A Lifetime of Nature Restoration, with Benedict MacDonald

Lifelong naturalist Benedict Macdonald, author of the Wainwright-Prize-winning Rebirding and Orchard (winner of the Richard Jefferies Prize), talks about his journey towards restoring tens of thousands of acres of the British countryside to nature. His journey from fledgling field naturalist to a director of television nature documentaries (including David Attenborough’s Our Planet) inspired him to become a ‘professional rewilder’ but also to set up his organisation, Restore, to help scale nature’s recovery across Britain. Benedict shares unique first-hand insights – working across 70,000 acres of nature restoration projects, from beaver reintroductions to creating a new plain grassland in Wiltshire – and argues that, with farmers, finance and nature coming together, Britain has a bright future ahead for wildlife.
