Event Description
Rowan Stuart is a singer-songwriter-guitarist from South Africa who relocated to Devon in 2024. He performs a signature style of ‘Story-Driven Dream Folk Pop’.
As a child, Rowan was always walking two worlds – the real one, with its cold facts and harsh realities, and the universe inside his mind, rich with magic and endless possibility. One day, he discovered the guitar, and with it, the key to unlocking his inner universe, and bridging the gap between the world as it was, and how he believed it could be.
From session guitarist roots, to stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, Rowan went on to complete many South African tours, supporting many of the country’s most successful pop and rock music acts, while releasing 7 original albums. His latest singles ‘Black Hole’, ‘Find A Way’ and ‘Fable Of Us’ were each featured on BBC Radio Introducing.
Rowan’s live performance at the Acorn, Penzance, will include himself on vocals, guitars and loop station, and Exeter-based Mattie James on bass guitar. The live material will consist of songs from his original albums, as well as re-interpreted classics from some of his favourite songwriters. Rowan’s performances combine his storytelling, soothing vocals and virtuosic guitar playing, while seamlessly blending genres – from timeless pop to blues and folk – all the while underpinned by a central theme of hope.
