Event Description

Secrets of the Bees: Old and New Cornwall, with Jane Johnson

Bestselling local author of over 20 novels, Jane Johnson talks about her latest book, Secrets of the Bees. Ezra Curnow – keeper of bees, traditions and the ancient stone that guards the entrance to Trengrose estate – finds himself forced into conflict with the new owners. The story weaves history, folklore and deep-buried secrets into a conflict between different cultures with humour and shadows of the past. There’s also a jackdaw called Merlin and a wicked black cat called Bucca – spirits of the wild. And there is a serious point to the story as well, taking in the Cornish housing situation, tourism and local heritage.
