Event Description

Known for their dynamic and compelling live performances, their sound blends contemporary folk & roots, with singer-songwriter sensibilities and combines emotive lead vocals with beautifully crafted harmonies and melodies, creating a truly uplifting experience. Their concerts are intimate in nature with listeners drawn into a rich and intriguing tapestry of acoustic ambience and inspired musicianship. This ensemble was created to support the solo works of Domenic DeCicco on lead vocals, guitars and flutes as well as sharing more acoustic versions of songs from the trio’s internationally recognised band, Praying for the Rain. He is accompanied by Delagh King on vocals & Bodhran and Mal Darwen on vocals, Bodhran, guitars & mandolin, both who hail from Cornwall.

During their musical history together, they have travelled throughout Europe, Canada, Africa, and the Middle East and have performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, Womad, Cambridge, Stainsby, Frome, at the famous Spiegeltent during the Islington International festival and at London’s Union Chapel and South Bank as part of a world music series presented by the National Theatre.

Domenic is an acclaimed vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer/producer, who is a deeply soulful and inspiring musician and storyteller that brings a rich, uncluttered quality to his music, filling his songs with evocative imagery and lyrical narrative. Originally from Canada, of Italian heritage, he now makes his home in Somerset, UK.

Following the successful releases of a solo album entitled, Never Letting Go in 2021 and a Praying for the Rain album entitled, Celebrate in 2020, the trio and band promoted both albums with a series of concerts across the UK. More recently, Domenic has released his latest solo album, a collection of instrumental pieces featuring Native American flutes entitled, Earth to Sky (2023) which he promoted with performances around the UK.  He is also currently working on a new singer-songwriter based album for release in 2025.

Terrific and powerful stuff, a wonderfully layered sound. Call for Freedom is a hypnotic driving chant. Frank Hennessy – Celtic Heartbeat BBC radio Wales
