Event Description
Amanda Craig wears many hats: she reviews children’s books for The New Statesman and literary fiction for The Observer but is mostly a full-time novelist, with titles including The Lie of the Land and The Golden Rule. Amanda is keen to open up the debate about the overlooked and amazing generation of women aged between 60-90 and ask why there are so few elderly heroines in fiction (especially contemporary). The heroines of her tenth book, The Three Graces, already optioned for TV, are three very different friends, aged 80+, who have retired to the Tuscan sunshine. “This is my most personal novel, which I’ve been waiting my whole life to write. It is not just about three elderly women, but about the experiences in the past that have made them what they are and the very different choices available to the young.”
This event is held at The Acorn Theatre.
