Event Description
The Memory of Animals with Claire Fuller
Novelist and short fiction writer, Claire Fuller originally trained as a sculptor before following a career in marketing. She began writing fiction at the age of 40 and published her first novel, Our Endless Numbered Days, to great acclaim in 2015, winning the Desmond Elliott Prize for debut fiction. She has since written four more novels: Swimming Lessons (shortlisted in France for the Encore Prize for second novels and Livre de Poche Prize), Bitter Orange (longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award), Unsettled Ground (which won the Costa Novel Award 2021 and was shortlisted for the 2021 Women’s Prize for Fiction) and her most recent, The Memory of Animals, which was published in April 2023. These have been translated into more than 20 languages.
Claire’s new ‘ghostly’ novel, Hunger and Thirst, will be published in the UK in February next year and we’re hoping that we can persuade her to give us all a sneak preview.
