Event Description
There is a new band in town – Penzance’s first super group!
Rising from the embers of Cornwall’s most enduring and successful punk trio The Surgeons, Pete Surgeon (singer and lyricist) and Jimmy Jewell (voted Cornwall’s Top Drummer on too many occasions to remember) are joined by local musical adonises ‘Dangerous’ Darren Roberts on bass guitar and ‘Rugged’ Rick Williams on lead guitar to form The Pete Surgeon Experience. ‘Lucky’ Luke Murray adds a waterfall of baritone backing vocals to the mix.
A heady mixture of gritty rhythm, melodic underlays and brutal drumming Glam Punk is probably the best description of these guys.
Their songs feature a cutting insight into modern life, including the likes of endless emails from Stanley from Screwfix, drunks riding electric bikes around town and world extreme political views – even touching on Mick McManus’ ears! This should prove to be a memorable night for Penzance as the band perform songs from their debut album ‘Tales of Pain and Ageing’.
Support is provided by Blitzkrieg Bob – often described as the most famous man in new wave music you have never heard of! Blitzkrieg Bob will be sharing with you his unique interpretations of some of the great songs of the punk and new wave era and the crucial part he played in bringing these tracks into existence – not to be missed indeed.
