Acorn At 50 – Past
Thursday 17th October 2019
The idea for ‘Tongue Pie’ was first coordinated by local writer and poet, Anna Maria Murphy. ‘Tongue Pie’ became an annual event during the Golowan Festival and took place in the Acorn, back in the 80s and 90s. It was an eclectic mix of spoken word and songs; performed by local artists, amateur and professional, and everyone was welcomed and encouraged.
Anna Maria Murphy, Pauline Sheppard and David Mynne have many years association with the Acorn and plan to recreate a ‘Tongue Pie’ evening to celebrate the Acorn@50. They will be joined by Boilerhouse (a locally based five-piece acapella group with a fine repertoire of Cornish influenced songs), Mary Woodvine, Bec Applebee and other guests.
