Event Description
Workshop with Jane Moss, Erasure Poetry: Making New Poems from Old Texts
Poetry Please!
Jane Moss, co-host of The Writing Retreat, loves nothing more than introducing people to new ways of writing. Erasure poems can be found everywhere, sometimes hiding in plain sight until they are brought to the surface from other pieces of text. In this practical workshop with Jane, you will look at some examples of erasure poetry – sometimes called ‘blackout poetry’ – and learn ways to make them from a variety of sources. You will have the opportunity to make some erasure poems of your own, using materials provided and some you find in your surroundings. If you haven’t written much poetry before, this workshop is a good way in; if you regularly write poetry, come and try this fascinating form.
