Young Fiction Writers Panel, with Fee Mak and Guests
BBC Radio 1Xtra presenter Fee Mak is an avid reader and literature champion, chairing talks at the Chiswick, Queens Park, SE London and Herts book festivals as well as appearing on BBC Radio 4’s A Good Read. In this lively event, Fee interviews three exciting young novelist and showcases their recent work.
Krystle Zara Appiah is a British-Ghanaian writer, editor and screenwriter based in London. Her first book, Rootless, about young motherhood, love and sacrifice has been described as: “The page-turning literary debut that will break your heart”.
Ronnie Turner grew up in Cornwall and, when not writing, works as a Senior Waterstones Bookseller and barista. We take some pride in the fact that she met the publisher of her previous novel, Pretty Things, at a LitFest event. Her latest gothic offering, Small Fires, examines possession, generational trauma, female rage and the perilous bonds of family.
Jodie Matthews is a queer Cornish writer, now living in Manchester. Her debut is a folk horror novel set on Bodmin Moor. Meet Me at the Surface was shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award and Blue Pencil First Novel Award.
