Volunteering
Are you interested in becoming a volunteer?
Do you have some free time during the day or evening?
Do you enjoy theatre, live music, and the arts?
If you are someone who enjoys talking to people and will be able to make our audience members feel welcomed and looked after, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll work as part of a team in a flexible role that welcomes your support when you are able to give it. We will train you and buddy you up with an experienced volunteer the first few times you attend a performance so that you feel confident in the role.

Friends Scheme
You can help secure the future of your local Penzance theatre by becoming a Friend of The Acorn. As a charity operating during these difficult times, we are strengthened by every Friend that joins the Acorn family. Through an annual donation, your Friendship gives us more stability and resilience. Your support will mean we can keep bringing you the wonderfully diverse shows you love; from international bands and theatre performances to comedians and community events. Every Friend enables us to support our local community. Whether that’s through offering discounted theatre space hire to local groups or providing bursaries for children and young people to take part in community classes held at The Acorn. We know your community matters to you.
We are so grateful to everyone who becomes a Friend. Your gift will keep us at the heart of the community for years to come.
As part of The Acorn family, you will receive these great benefits:
- That wonderful feeling of knowing you are supporting The Acorn to bring you great shows and events, whilst helping the local community.
- Quarterly Friends’ e-newsletter with exclusive details on shows that are up and coming
- Weekly What’s On guide by email, or printed when available
- A pair of tickets to our Artist in Residence dress rehearsal show – a wonderful, intimate night with all The Acorn family (limited tickets on a first-come, first-served basis).
