Event Description

Steve Tilston, the hugely talented award-winning performer, presents an intimate evening of music featuring unique arrangements of popular folksongs alongside his critically acclaimed material.

He’s been described as “a complete guitarist,” “a singer-songwriter of rare talent”, and “absurdly accomplished.” He’s toured with John Renbourn, Maggie Boyle, WAZ, Ballet Rambert and daughter Martha. The writer of the classics The Slipjigs and Reels, The Naked Highwayman and Here’s to Tom Paine; his songs have been covered by a who’s who of the folk world. The boxed-set retrospective Reaching Back is a fitting celebration of the life and music of one of our finest performers. After 50 years in the business, he’s in as fine form as ever; his new album, Such Times, is out now.

Perhaps best known for his song-writing prowess, Steve is also a blinding, dazzling guitarist with a style echoing the elaborate rhythmic “folk baroque” of Bert Jansch and Davy Graham, but also drawing from classical, roots and the tradition to create a style that is typically Tilston.
